Behind the Scenes
Carta Nova Architecture & Beyond & Jennifer Nursiah
Picture
The Gingerbread Connected Quarter is a collaboration between Carta Nova and their colleague and friend Jennifer Nursiah, a mortgage broker.
The Quarter creates urban living that is close to nature. The family home has been designed for patchwork, multicultural and cross-generational families. It is on split levels and includes inside-out spaces.

2018

In an era of well-deserved social stability, the population of a small but influential rural area has enhanced its agrarian economy to embrace the opportunities offered by the technology of the future.
A new subterranean community has evolved, which enjoys the protection and insulation offered by a covering of biscuit-like soil, with sustainable energy provided by ground sourced heat pumps, topped-up by geothermal energy tapped from far away volcanic fissures.
The below ground city of the future is a collective that exercises responsible stewardship of the environment and no longer relies on the unreliable wizardry of the past.

"Tiddy-doll, the great French-gingerbread-baker; drawing out a new batch of kings'. The figure of Tiddy Doll is transposed with a caricature of Napoleon as a 'baker' of new rulers, an aggressive imperialist who violates the sovereignty of his neighbours and destroys existing regimes."
