How to make 3D Snowflakes at home!
You can you make one with materials you have at home!
You can you make one with materials you have at home!
Materials:
- Heavyweight Paper
- Pencil
- Ruler
- Scissors
- Glue
- Stapler
Follow the steps below:
Part 1- Folding a Triangle
- Take one corner of your paper and fold it across the diagonal length of the paper such that the top edge and the adjacent edge line up.
- Cut off the remainder of the paper that is not folded. This should give you a square piece of paper. Folded across its diagonal, it becomes a right-angled triangle. Make 6 such pieces of the same size.
- On the longer side (called as the “hypotenuse”) of your folded paper, use a ruler and pencil to mark reference points spaced 2 cm apart.
- Fold the triangle in half such that the markings remain on the outside.
Part 2- Marking the Triangle for Cutting
- You now have a smaller- right angle triangle. Draw a line parallel to the hypotenuse of this triangle at a distance of about 1 cm away from the edge.
- Rotate the piece and connect the markings on the opposite side to the line you just drew as shown here.
- Cut along the shorter lines until you touch the line that is parallel to the hypotenuse.
- Open up the paper entirely to the square you started with. You will see a symmetric diamond like pattern that has formed with the cuts.
Part 3- Cutting and Folding
- This is where the magic starts to happen! Lay out your square piece flat and pick the inner most flaps that are opposite each other and gently bring them together and seal their vertices with a for of glue.
- Flip the paper on its back and repeat this process for the next set of concentric flaps that are opposite each other.
- Flip the paper back to its front side and repeat the process. Keep flipping and gluing opposite flaps until you reach the end. The result is one “branch” of the snowflake.
- Repeat this process for the remaining 5 pieces of paper.

SP Pudding Villas
by Studio Partington
Situated on the castle mound and within a conservation area, SP Pudding Villas jams a unique confection of buildings into the plot, respecting the scale and grain of its context. A series of gabled biscuit bays will animate the street, culminating in the “conserve-atory”, a row of pitched wafer frames supporting translucent candied panes. Tiered terrace gardens preserve the site’s sloping terrain. All this is achieved while remaining at the cutting edge of sustainability with rooftop sucrose-voltaic panels to power the buildings and a SUgar Drainage System (SuDS) in the form of a syrup pond to provide suitable attenuation.
