Let’s create a diorama inspired by Expresso Wheels by KC+A!

This local café, bar & bike workshop with homes above serves the residents of Connected Quarter with expresso powered peddles.
Commuters drop by for a coffee on their way to work & to have their ebikes kept in tip top condition whilst road riders assemble at the weekend to do timed laps of Castle Hill.
Designed for Manufacture and Assembly the building is constructed from cross laminated gingerbread ideal for open plan shop units with flats above.
Construction is responsible for a third of all land fill & this efficient form of construction reduces waste to only a few crumbs. Gingerbread as a material locks in carbon and its manufacture requires much less energy than traditional alternatives shortbread or chocolate chip.

Step 1
What is a diorama?  A diorama is a scale model of a historical or fictional scene.  To create your diorama of the residents visiting the café, bar and bike workshop on their way to work.  You can use a cardboard box, for example a shoe box or a cereal box.  Cut out one side so you can see inside.
Step 2
You can use the template attached KC+A architects.jpg to construct the different sections of the café, bar and workshop.  Print out the document below and stick it onto some cardboard.

Step 3
Cut out the separate sections and stick them together using Sellotape.  You can then colour them in before sticking them together to make the different areas for the café, the bar and the workshop.  Just like KC & A Architects, you can make as many buildings as you like.

Step 4
Cut out the other sections on the template to create the residents, the ebikes, mugs and decorations inside.  You can even use found objects.  Perhaps some lego people, or a toy bike, you may even have some little toys for the mugs, flowers, and pets.  What else could you add?
